Eligibility criteria
Abstracts are invited from the following researchers:
You must be an undergraduate student in TESOL/TESL/TEFL.
Your research must investigate TESOL related aspect/s.
Presentation Types
- Full Oral Presentation
- Pecha Kucha Presentation
Authors
The maximum number of authors per paper is 3. Only one submission per author is allowed.
Provide the first author’s name first. List the other authors thereafter.
Provide the first (preferred) name and the family name (surname). Avoid initials. Provide the family name/surname last.
Provide the name of the institution.
Underline the corresponding author’s name.
Topic areas
Abstracts on empirical studies with primary data (e.g., surveys, experiments, classroom observations etc.), meta-analyses and corpus or other document analyses (e.g., textbook analysis, exam analysis) are accepted. Literature reviews are also accepted.
Abstracts on action research projects are accepted if projects have been completed and findings are ready to be presented.
Formatting
Title: Provide an appropriate title of 10 words maximum
Abstract length: 250-300 words (excluding the title)
Keywords: Provide 4-5 key words
You can use the same abstract template for both presentation types.
Use Times New Roman, 12 point font throughout the abstract including the title.
Boldface the title and keywords.
Use centre alignment for the title, author/s name/s and institute/s.
Italicise the author/s name/s and the institution/s.
Use single spacing within the abstract.
Leave 1 inch margin (2.5 cm) on all four sides of the document.
Use Microsoft Word format (other formats such as PDFs will not be accepted).
Do not include several paragraphs, the abstract should be a one paragraph text.
Do not include any supplementary documents.
Do not include any section/subheadings (e.g., introduction, literature review etc.).
Do not include any citations, tables, graphs, or any other illustrations in your abstract.
If emphasising of words/phrases is needed within the abstract, italicise them. Do not use other symbols such as inverted commas and boldfacing.

Start with a brief introduction to the focus/topic of your research, including any theoretical rationale. Summarise the objectives/research questions. Provide a description on the methodology used (e.g., data collection methods, participant characteristics including number, procedure etc.). Summarise the main findings. Explain the implications of your findings to ELT policy/practice in Sri Lanka.
Key words: provide 4-5 key words
